The Norwegian Polar Institute in collaboration with the University of Bergen has done observations on seabirds in Kongsfjorden, with support from Ny-Ålesund research station.

The observations add to the range of glacier-related ecological interactions by documenting how the fast sea ice (with a well-defined ice edge) in front of a melting tidewater glacier sets up favour-able feeding conditions for diving a seabird.
