NORCE delivers research and innovation in energy, health care, climate, the environment, society and technology. NORCE is also the leading institution in Norway on the development of aerial drones, and drone based sensors systems and services. 

NORCE‘s activity in Ny-Ålesund is project based, and focuses on earth observations from autonomous systems. 

When in Ny-Ålesund, NORCE projects are hosted by Sverdrup-NPI.

NORCE has been active in Ny-Ålesund since late 2000, and established the Arctic Center for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Ny-Ålesund in 2015.
