Glaciology flagship workshop
The Glaciology workshop will be held at the Thon Conference Universitetsgaten on Thursday Nov 4, from 09:00 until no later than 16:00. We will also hold a dinner on Wednesday evening, at the Brasserie France.
Thursday evening marks the start of the IGS Nordic Branch meeting, which kicks off with an icebreaker reception at Norwegian Water Resource and Energy Directorate (NVE), and then two days of meeting at the University of Oslo, on Friday and Saturday, Nov 5-6.
The intention of the Glaciology Flagship Workshop is to cover all aspects of Svalbard glaciology, but with a focus on furthering the ongoing international and interdisciplinary cooperation on modelling and field measurements of snow and glacier mass balance in Svalbard. Depending on how many speakers there are, talks will be around 15-20 minutes per person. People can bring posters, but since this is a workshop, it’s best to just take the floor and present the material as a talk.
If you plan to attend the event, please send an email to the flagship chair Jack Kohler and answer the following questions:
- Will you attend the dinner at Brasserie France Wed evening at 19:00?
- Will you attend the Workshop all day Thursday (or alternately, part of the day)?
- Will you give a talk (if yes, include the title)?
- Do you have any dietary requirements.
- Do you need (limited) travel support?
The flagship have funds to cover the dinner on Wednesday evening, and lunch and coffee during the day on Thursday. It will also be able to provide limited travel support to those coming from outside of Norway, with the exact amount depending on how many would need that.
